An initiative carried out by the Houzz Center in the city of Al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, which witnesses the presence of a large number of displaced people from various Syrian governorates and cities. The initiative aims to enhance the culture of coexistence and citizenship practices by creating community and artistic spaces in which popular and community stories are shared and customs, traditions and artistic heritage are introduced. It is a popular cuisine for various displaced Syrians living in the city and aims to enhance communication between them.
Within this context, the Whoz Center held the week for the Damascus Countryside Governorate, including three sessions:
The first session: An open introductory session to talk about the history of the Damascus countryside governorate, where the economic and geographical importance, popular heritage, societal environment, dialect and its uprising in the Syrian revolution were discussed, passing through the popular story and cultural heritage.
The second session: An artistic session was held specifically for the artistic heritage, in the presence of a number of activists and people from various Syrian communities. The Damascene artistic heritage, the history of the Levantine display, and its importance to the residents of the governorate were discussed. An artistic presentation was presented about the Al-Musahrati, and a second paragraph was dedicated to the storyteller, who is considered one of the most important symbols of the artistic heritage of the governorate. .
The third session: A traditional cuisine feast was held, representing the generosity, hospitality, and customs of the residents of the Damascus countryside governorate, in which a dish of rice with peas was served. We were honored by the presence of a number of residents and male and female activists from various governorates.
